Global Color's AW 13/14 Alpine Trend
Take a Peak...
It’s all
about Alpine. This trend encourages us to appreciate and enjoy our natural
world. As we take time to observe and absorb we discover fresh beauty in the
structure and shape of an alpine landscape. Experimental knit ideas are
generated from strong imagery; stylised mountainous shapes and deep valleys sit
against a clear ice sky inspiring high end knitwear.
Try merging
soft with solid, and stiff with sleek through yarn choice to compose that all
important contrast… it’s where metallic silks and brushed merino meet unconventional
wire, enhancing the extremities within this trend. Simple structures such as
plaiting and racking provide thinking space for off the machine manipulation, such
as fun handcrafted embroidered elements. Experiment with heat manipulation of
thermoplastic yarn to harden and glaze smooth surfaces and create 3D profile
construction.
Colour
blocking using a bright palette against the all important green tones brings life;
playfulness and kitsch feel; important alongside organic intermingling scenes.
Consider
printed graphic geometrics to compliment knitted collections assisting in constructing
a light hearted mood.
Knitwear Stripe Collection
Shibori and dip dying techniques used to mirror my smudged drawing techniques
Woven Interiors
Smooth smudges and slow dips.

Identity
Finding myself at University. I love organic textures, over extended lines and our natural world.
